Inviting riders to a mountain biking mecca
We were tasked with redesigning Québec Vélo de Montagne’s website to better reflect the unique landscape and rich Québécois culture of this mountain biking paradise. The challenge was to transform the utilitarian site into an inspirational, storytelling platform that would attract more riders, showcase the region's status as a mountain biking powerhouse and present their five trail centres as a single, joined system to demonstrate why QVDM doesn’t take a back seat to west coast bike parks.
From practical to inspirational
Quebec Vélo de Montagne’s existing website delivered information effectively but lacked the inspiration and storytelling needed to convey what makes the destination so special. Our mission at Origin was to create an immersive, high-quality digital experience that not only highlighted the stunning landscapes and vibrant culture but also elevated the brand’s mission to contribute to the local bike scene.
Finding the spirit
We set out to design a site that felt like a digital version of a modern boutique bike shop in the heart of Québec City—where heritage meets innovation. Utilizing QVDM’s new branding, we updated the color palette to meet accessibility standards and introduced a new digital pattern inspired by tire treads and trails. This added visual interest and differentiation while maintaining a modern and clean aesthetic with a hint of restrained edginess and grit.
Staying true to the place
Our design balanced bold color applications, large rounded corners, and playful iconography to create a standout website that truly brought Québec Vélo de Montagne’s unique vibe to life. To capture the authentic tone of voice our audience expects, we crafted content in French first and then transcreated it into English, ensuring the original spirit and nuance were preserved.
The result was a visually stunning, user-friendly website that not only conveyed the essence of Québec Vélo de Montagne but also inspired mountain bikers to explore the region’s unparalleled trail network and infrastructure.
