Origin is thrilled to announce a multitude of new additions to its already robust team of outdoor industry specialists. Further positioning itself as a thought leader and innovator in the world of outdoor-focused branded content, Origin is rapidly growing and setting its sights on expanding its client list in new, exciting directions.
Deanna Dougan - Project + Marketing Coordinator
Fresh from a couple of years spent in Chamonix crafting a passion for jagged technical peaks and fine cheese and meats, Deanna is back in her native province of British Columbia and has made Origin her new home. With a Bachelor of Commerce from UVIC and a passion for the mountains to boot, Deanna brings a diverse skill set that has her in charge of promoting the Origin brand to the world as well as making sure that the Origin train stays on track.
Katie Hinks - Lead Designer
Thanks to OCAD where she earned degrees in advertising, graphic design, and digital media, Katie is a unique combination of a traditional advertising art director and modern-day interactive designer. Her past position as an accessibility expert and Senior Designer at Critical Mass hammers home her keen understanding of how to create exceptional user experiences. She’s equal parts thinker and doer with plenty of initiative and ambition on the side. Between projects, Katie finds her thrills on the mountain and unwinds on the water.
Felix Jauvin - Junior Copywriter + Community Manager
Felix wears a lot of hats, both literally and figuratively. Splitting his time at Origin as both a wordsmith and community manager, Felix has quickly run around the outdoor industry block and has landed full circle back in his hometown of Whistler after completing a BBA - Marketing at Capilano University. When not blending his passions of writing and marketing together, Felix can be found either ski touring, rock climbing, hiking, or mountain biking somewhere deep in the Coast Mountains.
Laura Merino - Account Director + Strategist
Whether tucked in a small camp on the southern coast of Maine or in the beautiful Rockies of Colorado, Laura's love for all things outdoors is infectious. She lived in a yurt for four years and currently resides in the Roaring Fork Valley in Colorado, where she is an avid skier and mountain biker. With over eight years of experience in marketing, PR, and communications, she has a strong knowledge in digital marketing, content distribution and loves helping clients grow their business. For the last seven years, Laura has worked in the outdoor industry in roles like 'Associate Media Director', where she's been responsible for full funnel media planning strategies.
Theresa Frendo - Production Designer
Theresa Frendo, known to us as Tree, is a jill-of-all-design-trades with a unique and diverse skill set. From running her own web design business on the side to a passion for analog devices (like her collection of old film cameras), Tree brings to Origin the ability to keep up in a conversation with our developers and then, at the flip of a switch, design a suite of beautiful canvases in a heartbeat. An avid partaker in all things outdoors as her nickname suggests, Tree reminds us all to balance the vintage with the cutting edge.
